This site sets no cookie and loads nothing from outside: fonts, stylesheets, scripts and audience measurement are all served by this domain. It writes one thing to your browser's storage, and only if you ask for it: the light or dark theme chosen at the top of the page, so that it is still there on your next visit. That value stays on your machine and is erased as soon as you go back to the system setting. You can check all of this in your browser's developer tools, and it is why you saw no banner when you arrived.

Traffic is measured by a self-hosted instance, served from this same domain. Purpose: to know which articles are read, and for how long. Legal basis: the publisher's legitimate interest in measuring the audience of its own publications. The CNIL exempts from consent any audience measurement kept strictly to that purpose, and the journal keeps to it: no persistent identifier, no tracking from one site to another, no IP address kept in the clear, no cross-referencing with another processing operation, nothing passed to a third party.

Retention: traffic data is deleted after 25 months, the ceiling the CNIL sets for that exemption. No session or navigation recording is collected on this site. The feature exists on the instance, and it is forbidden for this domain.

A message sent to the address above is used only to answer it. You can ask for access to your data, for its correction or for its deletion at that same address. If the answer does not satisfy you, you can bring the matter to the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
